I read an article about an Open House for Global Girl Gifts in our local paper. It sounded interesting and was nearby so I stopped in not knowing quite what to expect. I got there and it was in an actual house not a storefront, I have to admit, I was kind of leery until I walked in. The entire downstairs was full of the most interesting items. This is an annual open house and Global Girl Gifts also operates in the Strip District in front of Stamoolis Brothers on Penn.
The owners go overseas to source their products in various countries. Every section had a note about where it came from and some even had photos of the craftsmen and women who made the item. Prices were very reasonable. I apologize about the blurry iPhone photos, that’s all I had with me.
I loved these scarves made from Saris. Very interesting and only $12.
I couldn’t resist these crochet ornaments. Many different animals and all really well made.
There was a ton of very unusual jewelry. I had a really hard time narrowing down my selections. I don’t have photos of everything I picked because some of them will end up as gifts! I loved the bracelets shown above. So many gorgeous choices.
I believe the jewelry pouches were made in Thailand. They were gorgeous. Made out of satin and had beautiful flowers on the top. I love that they are soft and can fit in your luggage easily.
I don’t have photos of even half of what was available. I had to keep getting out of the check out line because I would see someone with something I missed! Here are some of the items I bought at the Open House. Love the little cat pouch on the right. The red pouch has a silk flower like the jewelry pouch does.

Love this store! I co-host a Travel the World in Books reading challenge so I can travel through books because I cant afford to travel to these far off places in person. I would love to escape to other countries

Thanks for the shout out for our open house. We’re happy that you got past your reluctance to enter. You’re not the first to wonder what exactly you are walking into!
BTW — the jewelry round is made by a fair trade organization in Vietnam that we have worked with for years. Pretty and functional!
Hope that you and your gift recipients enjoy your purchases.
