It’s December 1st, yikers! How did that happen? Time to break out the advent calendar!
Advent calendars are special calendars used to count down and celebrate the days until Christmas. I can remember the old time advent calendars with foil windows with a piece of candy in them. Sooo hard to wait to open them all until the correct day.
Advent calendars have become a big thing ( in the blog world at least), with many different versions. Some have an activity for each day, some have a bible verse, some have a toy or piece of candy. Really anything you want can be incorporated into your advent calendar.
If you already have your advent calendar all ready to go today, you go Glen Coco! If not, I created a Pinterest board with some ideas here. Some are quite elaborate, but I thought I would show you a few that you could still accomplish before the end of the day today!
I always want to do something with my old prescription bottles and this advent calendar is a great way to use them. Check out the full tutorial at Crafts Unleashed.
This is a super easy idea! Coffee cups wrapped in scrap paper. Check out the how to at Fishly News.
Love the idea of wrapping up Christmas books you already have to use as a book advent calendar. Details can be found at Rivers Edge Curriculum.
All you need is a jar and a color printer to create this Advent Calendar in a Jar. Templates available at Poppy Talk.
Love this easy idea too. Small paper bags and clothespins on a string. Details found at Print Your Party.
I love how easy these ideas are, no pressure, right? Do you use an advent calendar at your house? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

I started doing an Advent calendar for my fiance a few years ago. It’s just he and I, but we use it as a way to celebrate a little each day. We fill it with holiday themed activities like “drive around and look at Christmas lights” and some days I include a treat for us to share. If we’re feeling silly, we also buy the ones from the store where we get the candy each day 🙂 It’s great to feel the magic and feel like a kid again!

I love that! We get Starbucks and drive around with the dog and look at Christmas lights too every year!

I love the Christmas book idea! We usually buy an Advent calendar. This year we got a LEGO “Star Wars” one for my son and one with chocolates for my daughter.
