Pittsburgh locals, be sure to check out Handmade Arcade this Saturday at the Convention Center from 11-7pm. A great place to start or finish your holiday shopping and to shop local! For those of you trying to shop small business, this is for you!
It is run by a collective that brings designers and artists together mainly from Western Pa (and some other places too) to sell their handmade items. It is a very anticipated annual event. As proof of its coolness (like it needed it), Handmade Arcade was listed in Buzzfeed’s Top 35 Indie Craft Fairs.
The show is juried, so everything is quality. You will find so many got-to-have-it, one of a kind gifts you won’t believe it! I highly recommend going if you can and if you can’t or aren’t local, the vendors have websites or etsy shops to order from. A complete list of vendors can be found here. I know you will find a new shop you love! Our good friend Bel Monili will be there selling her lovely jewelry!
In addition to shopping, there will be giant puppets, marching band and DJ’s! The best part? Free admission! More money to shop with!!
The Hands on Handmade workshops sound very cool too. There’s one where you help create handmade pop-up flowers planned for Pittsburgh neighborhoods next winter. Another one is a superhero mask and cape making zone! Or make chromatography snowflakes and pose in a winter wonderland photobooth! Totally my gig!
Have you been to Handmade Arcade? Do you plan to go? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
