I’m back from my trip to Florida and will be posting regularly again. It was a tad chilly in Florida last week (in the 60’s), but of course chilly and sunny is a lot easier to take than 30 and cloudy! While my trip was for business, I had some of my evenings free to explore the non-Disney side of Orlando. We stayed downtown and I hadn’t really explored that part of Orlando before.
My first stop, of course, was the Outlet Mall. Orlando has two really good ones, but I wanted to check out the Burberry Outlet, so I headed to the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets. Let me start by saying the crowds were ridiculous. Like Black Friday ridiculous.
There were really only a few stores I wanted to check out since I have two outlet malls in Pittsburgh that have a lot of “regular” stores. I headed to the Burberry Outlet store, since it was the reason for my mission. For those of you who haven’t been to one before, the prices are discounted, but not hugely. For example, a $900 bag is priced at around $800. I left empty handed. I just wasn’t willing to spend that kind of money on a past season bag.
We went to a couple of great restaurants while we were in town. We visited Wall Street Plaza in downtown Orlando. It’s an interesting concept with 7 venues all in one location. We ate at Sideshow and I had some rocking tacos! It was definitely a fun time. Though I have to admit, the whole time I was there I was thinking about American Horror Story!
I had asked for restaurant recommendations on Facebook and my friend Sharon really came through! We went to Seasons 52 in Orlando based on her recommendation and it was excellent! They have a seasonally inspired menu with nothing more than 475 calories on the menu. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. We had a fantastic waiter named Miguel and the food was amazing.
We didn’t have time to enjoy any typical Orlando theme park offerings as we were there for work, but it was great to see the sun for a few days. All in all, a great trip, but I am happy to be back home for the holidays!
