As a follow up to my post on how to wear Marsala, I thought I would talk about using Marsala in makeup. I absolutely love this shade and I think it even works in a different form as an eye shadow. It definitely takes me back to the vampy lipstick days of my youth! Hope you are as in love with my picks as I am!
There are lots of nail polish colors in the Marsala family. I am fond of this Essie Berry Naughty version. Essie is one of my favorite polishes of all time.
I saw a couple Marsala inspired shadows out there, but I think my favorite is Mac’s Embark shown above. It’s such a rich color, I think it would be pretty on many different people.
I may be alone in this thinking, but I believe Urban Decay’s Naked 3 fits right in to the Marsala family. The rose tones blend perfectly with Marsala’s rich tones.
Nars’ Outlaw shade also blends well with Marsala. I am super fair skinned so its a bit to dark for me, but it would be beautiful on someone with olive or darker skin than mine.
Now on to my favorite subject! Lip color! MAC has a ton of shades in the burgundy family. My fave is Sin shown above. It is beautiful on almost everyone!
I’ve talked about this lipstick before and I still love it. Butter London’s Black Cherry. It’s so pretty and it’s buildable, so you can use one swipe and have a little light color or apply more for the full impact.
What do you think about Marsala in your makeup bag? Have you incorporated it yet? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
