Have you recovered from the plot twist from last week’s Mad Men? I have to say I did not see that one coming. I really thought something like that would happen to Don, not Betty. And how about Pete and Trudy? I like how each week we are seeing each character wrap up their arc and see where they are going to land.
Just in case you missed any seasons, the marathon leading up to the end started Wednesday night. Needless to say, I am anxious to see the series finale this weekend. Similar to the end of Sex and the City, I thought a viewing party might be in order. I rounded up a couple ideas in case you were thinking the same thing!
You can’t have a Mad Men party and not pay tribute to the party foods of the Sixties.
Lipton Onion Soup Dip
1 envelope Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion Soup Mix
1 container (16 oz) sour cream
Blend and chill. So easy it hardly counts as a recipe, but definitely evocative of the sixties!
Jello Fruit Desserts
Again, not really a recipe, mix jello and add fruit and refrigerate.
Cuisinart CFO-3SS Electric Fondue Maker
Cheese Fondue
Fondue was around, but really took off in America in the Sixties and early Seventies. Even better if you have a fondue pot!
Cream Cheese and Pimento Stuffed Celery
Recipe found here.
Shrimp Cocktail
Recipe found here.
These Mad Men inspired cookies are awesome, but the link I have is a dead end. If you know the original link, please let me know, so I can credit.
And of course we can’t forget the drinks! Brandy Alexander’s, Seven and Seven’s, Bourbon on the Rocks, Tom Collins, Whiskey Sours, Old Fashioned’s the list goes on and on!
How do you think the series is going to end? I’d love to hear your guesses in the comments!
