Back in August, I did my first drugstore vs salon shampoo comparison. You can read about it here. In that comparison, I used a blonde brightening shampoo and conditioner from a salon. It probably wasn’t a completely fair comparison between it and my every day drugstore favorite. The brightening duo isn’t meant to be used everyday and by design doesn’t suds greatly.
I decided to set up another experiment with a more everyday type salon example. I decided to use TIGI’s Bed Head Urban Anti-dote Recovery Shampoo & Conditioner Damage Level 2. I picked it because it is a moisturizing product and I heat style my hair pretty much everyday.

I used the Bed Head for my last couple hair washings and I love the smell. It’s a fruity smell and pretty amazing. The shampoo lathers really well, which you know from my last review is important to me. It’s the little things!

The conditioner wasn’t a wow for me, it wasn’t a complete no, I would use it again, but it wasn’t super-duper amazing or anything. I like to use the matched sets of shampoos and conditioners or else I miiiiight not buy it again, but it’s ok.
How did my hair look and behave after using it you ask? I liked the result, my hair was soft and manageable. Easy to style and I felt like my hair was moisturized, which is important since I have heavily color processed hair. I don’t ever want my hair to get damaged or dried out.
How does it compare to by beloved Suave Humectant Shampoo and Conditioner? Surprisingly, I would use either brand. It stacked up well to my drugstore favorite. I finally felt like I found something that better moisturized my hair. I know I said I didn’t love the Bed Head conditioner, but I really liked them as a duo. I think that the shampoo makes up for my being less than wowed by the conditioner. Plus, who knows what good the conditioner is doing and I’m just not realizing it.
All in all, I would say Bed Head Urban Anti-dote Recovery is a thumbs up. Have you tried it? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

I am all about the store brands. The only Salon type I’ve used was for detangling or dry scalp, and now I can’t even remember the brand! Oops.
