The following is my experience. All opinions are my own. I was gifted a box by Dia & Co.
There are quite a few companies out there that provide styling services by helping pick out clothes for you and shipping them to your house for a small fee, but there are not many that cater to plus sizes. Dia & Co does! I will be quite honest and say that I never really thought I would use a styling service and when Dia & Co reached out to me, I was a bit skeptical. I thought what could it hurt to try it once and see. I think we all get in a bit of a rut with picking out similar styles and colors and this might get me out of my black and gray comfort zone!
The process starts by you filling out a questionnaire about your clothing sizes and preferences. This is not a time for vanity sizing. Make sure you are completely truthful, otherwise nothing you receive is going to fit! The questions ask you about prints you prefer or if you hate prints. Long sleeves or sleeveless, easy things to answer. Five total items come in every box and you can indicate if you want accessories included in your five or not.
Provide your social media info so your assigned stylist can check out what you pin on Pinterest, post on Instagram, etc. It gives the stylist an idea of your taste and style. There is a $20 styling fee, but if you keep items from your box, it is credited back to you. Once I got through my questionnaire, I sat back and waited for my box.
My box arrived on a Sunday and I couldn’t wait to open. Firstly, because I couldn’t believe they could fit everything into such a tiny box! My items were folded neatly and tissue wrapped inside my box. I had five days to open and try on my stuff, but of course, I ripped it open immediately!!
The first thing I unfolded was a purple side knotted short sleeve top. It was knit and I can absolutely understand why my stylist picked it because I have a ton of this style pinned on my Pinterest board. She actually did a great job with this top. I never would have picked purple, so it’s making me try a color I wouldn’t normally. I already know I love side knotted tops as I have some in other colors and brands. Sizing was right on with this one. You will note there a few wrinkles in some of the outfits, I decided not to steam them for blog photos, so you could see everything straight out of the box.
Next up was a sweatshirt. It’s a gray, long, lighter weight hooded sweatshirt with side ribbon detailing. It is super cozy and I definitely have nothing remotely similar to this in my closet. It’s something I can see myself wearing a ton this fall and winter.
It’s one of those layers you put on in the morning and wear all day and then continue to wear to sleep on a cold night! Again, sizing was perfect on this one.
A print dress was next in my box. This was a mixed bag for me. The style is perfect for my shape, but I am not fond of the print. The print is definitely a fall appropriate one. The dress is fairly lightweight so it is perfect for this time of year and then when it gets colder, I could see it with knee high boots, tights and a long sweater. Absolutely nothing wrong with the dress, I am just weird about prints in general and this one wasn’t my fave.
When I first unfolded these jeans, I got very excited to see the pearls. I had pinned a ton of embellished jeans, so I totally get why my stylist chose them for me. When I unfolded them a little further and saw the distressing, I was a bit less excited. I am all for distressed jeans, I just think I am a tinge too old for this much skin. Also, I can’t wear them to work, distressed jeans are a no, even on a casual day. I was however, anxious to try this brand because I was following them on Instagram.
I tried them on and honestly the skin exposure is mild. It’s on the knees so I am way more comfortable with that, than thigh exposure!! On me, these are top of the shoe length (meaning they reach the tops of my shoe by my ankle) I am 5’3″ for reference. On someone taller or with longer legs, I think they would be right at ankle length. I personally prefer them this long, but they are definitely not regular length jeans.
As far as fit, these are great! I had heard nothing but good things about this brand as far as fit went, so I thought they would be good and they were. I would never think I could fit in jeans someone else picked out. I also love that they have empowering messages on the inside pockets! I could definitely use these as date night/girls night out jeans. And let’s be honest, I am not afraid to rock them during my weekend errands either! Brand is RWN by Rawan in case you want check them out.
Lastly, I received a necklace in my box. I have a number of necklaces that are super similar to this one, so good job by my stylist. I probably won’t keep only because I do have so many like it. It did look nice with the dress, which is I am sure why she included it.
What happens next?
I can either keep everything, return everything or just keep some of the stuff. If sizes were wrong, you can exchange for another size. Choosing to keep everything in your box gives you 25% off the total and if you keep some of the stuff, your $20 styling fee is credited back to you.
Mailing back your items is super easy. My box included a receipt showing prices and a big prepaid envelope. Put the items you don’t want or want to exchange in the envelope and send it back.
All in all, it was a great experience. I received brands I’ve never tried before and some things I wouldn’t have typically picked myself. I definitely “get” why people are crazy about these services now.
