Headbands and barrettes go in and out of style all the time. This past year, I’ve seen them ramping up again and a slight hair emergency situation prompted me to go seek some out. At $40 a pop, headbands definitely were pricier than I remembered them being last time they were in style.
They also were significantly bigger than I was used to wearing. The current headband style is fabric wrapped with a big knot, with or without pearls or other embellishments. Quite a statement.
I searched around figuring I had to be able to find a better deal somewhere else. I found some headbands around $10 at Target, so I bought one to see if I could still stand the head squeeze that comes with wearing a headband. It turned out to be a pretty good one, limited squeezing and it was cute.
I wanted to try one of the pearl encrusted ones but there was just absolutely no way I was comfortable with the $40 price tags I kept finding everywhere. I turned to my old buddy Amazon figuring they had to have more choices.
I was right, but holy crap, there were too many choices. I looked at so many my head was spinning. I finally settled on a mixed pack that gave me some fancy pearl ones, some animal print and some patterns. Ordered via Prime, because of course I wanted them right away and the price was definitely lower than buying just one in a retail store!
I was pleasantly surprised by them. They aren’t going to last a lifetime, but what headband is? They will last through this trend though. They are comfortable for about 4ish hours, which is decent in my book. My target one I can wear longer before getting the headband headache, but for how cheap these are, I am ok with 4 hours. I am notoriously tender headed, so for you normals, it probably will be all day.
My faves out of the group are definitely the pearl ones. I was afraid they would feel like a crown, but these aren’t ridiculously large. They have a nice small knot, which doesn’t come really far off your head. I also love how the colors of the pearl ones are really close to various hair colors, so weirdly, they aren’t super noticeable. You wouldn’t think that was possible, but it is.
I can’t wait to wear some of the other ones. They will definitely give an all black or otherwise boring outfit a little punch!
